2015 Neighborhood Chipping Program

The Wildfire Mitigation Team received funding to provide a roaming chipper to five Wildland Urban Interface neighborhoods in Boise. Columbia Village, Cove East, Homestead Rim, Oregon Trail Heights and Surprise Valley all received chipping services to reduce woody fuels from their homes. The project had a 17% participation rate for 2500 homes. We work with neighborhoods to provide chipping services almost every year. Chipping and hauling away woody materials reduces the burnable woody material within neighborhoods, making them more prepared to withstand wildfire.
