2016 Oregon Trails Plots

After goat grazing in Summer 2015, Imazapic was applied over much of the Oregon Trail reserve with the intention of reducing non-native invasive grasses. We are testing the effects of Imazapic against control plots that were excluded from herbicide spraying to determine the viability of using Imazapic in Boise in the future.

We worked with volunteers to monitor the plots. Our volunteers were high school students taking summer classes to prepare for college. Students estimated plant cover, mapped their locations, and worked in teams to record field data. Together, the students completed over 100 plots, and added valuable skills to their resumes.
